Van Review: Mobilvetta Kea Kompakt 55

Discover why this award-winner stood out when Practical Motorhome’s Peter Baber put it through its paces in a full review.

The award-winning Mobilvetta Kea Kompakt 55 has been put through its paces by Practical Motorhome in a detailed road test by reviewer Peter Baber, earning praise for its smart compact design, premium finish and impressive comfort for a motorhome under seven metres.

Built on the dependable Fiat Ducato, the Kea Kompakt 55 is designed with smaller roads and more adventurous touring in mind, offering the manoeuvrability of a shorter motorhome while still delivering many of the features buyers expect from a larger model.

Peter highlighted the smooth driving experience, with automatic transmission and supportive travel seats making it especially easy to handle on the move. Despite its compact length, the Kea Kompakt 55 includes a generous garage, external storage and clever layout touches that minimise compromise.

Inside, the lounge was praised for feeling bright and welcoming, thanks to light upholstery, well-placed LED lighting and a practical parallel seating arrangement. The motorhome also impressed with its thoughtfully designed washroom, which feels more spacious than expected due to large mirrors and a well-sized shower cubicle.

Sleeping arrangements were noted as particularly strong for a vehicle of this size, with a drop-down bed providing comfortable accommodation without taking up valuable daytime living space.

While kitchen space is naturally more limited in a compact four-berth, it felt overall the specification, build quality and usability made the Kea Kompakt 55 a standout choice - a verdict reinforced by its success as Best Motorhome Under 7m at the Practical Motorhome Awards 2026.
